Comments about Skil Skil Factory-Reconditioned 3.6V Lithium-Ion Power-Cutter:

Forget cutting anything metalic, except aluminum foil perhaps.
Has an annoying overload feature so it stops unexpectedly and you have to release the trigger to reset it. Quite jarring.
I've owned two, both had out-of-round shafts causing it to jam easily.

Comments about Skil Skil Factory-Reconditioned 3.6V Lithium-Ion Power-Cutter:

Recently cut foam board for mounting and framing needlework. Try as I might, I cannot produce a perfect;y straight line. Part of the problem may be that I am left-handed and the guide is on the left side; so I can't see it when I cut. Part of it is that the tool draws the material right into the blade and if one isn't ready to control the material it can go off course quickly.
I still say it is a great tool!

Comments about Skil Skil Factory-Reconditioned 3.6V Lithium-Ion Power-Cutter:

Had it about 8 hours. Cut everything I've tried it on. Good for light to medium use. A heavy duty version would be great for professionals. This won't hold up for everyday use but for a homeowner or hobbiest will be just fine.
Now for one huge problem that I see. Where do you find replacement blades! They should be sold right with the product in the store or as an option when ordering and not by calling customer service. Yes it does have an auto-sharpener but what happens when the blade can't be sharpened anymore. Throw it away? I think not. I'll do a little more searching and if I can't find them then mine will be a return. I can't recomend this at this time.

Cuts all kinds of material. One of the best uses I have put it to is to open things that are packaged in plastic. It makes short and easy work of these.

Comments about Skil Skil Factory-Reconditioned 3.6V Lithium-Ion Power-Cutter:

My aging hands have found it difficult to cut 'heavier' materials with scissors. So far, this item has mostly been used to open some rather heavy plastic packaging over the holidays and I used it to make some decorations out of aluminum sheeting. These projects were so easy with this tool. I anticipate that it will be a go-to product for many years.

Comments about Skil Skil Factory-Reconditioned 3.6V Lithium-Ion Power-Cutter:

I found this tool to be very useful for light household projects. Keeping in mind that its run by a 3.6 volt battery, don't pick projects that are beyond its means. It zips through cardboard, thin plastic and wall paper. I wouldn't recommend its use on thin veneer( it gives a pretty rough cut). Also the claim of it being able to cut material up to a 1/4 inch thick might be stretching the limits. I tried it on 1/4 vinyl tiles and it struggled even with a full charge. Don't overtax it and it is a very good, simple to use, handy item to have around your house or workshop.

Wll cut leather up to 2.5 oz. Any leather above that weight, it will try to cut it but can't. The battery goes dead and has to be recharged.

First use was for cutting up an old carpet into small strips. Sure did save me a lot of time ... and was easy on the hands especially since I have carpal tunnel and tendinitis in my fingers...I did have to clean out carpet fibers from the blade .. every few minutes ... but I would still buy again and recommend it.

We are pleased with this cutter. It was all it said it should be. The only con is that we needed the cutter itself to get the package open! Seriously, this is good for everything from opening packages to cutting cardboard and even cutting wire, plastic fencing (to keep rabbits out of our garden) and thin wood strips. So glad we bought it.

I've used this cutter on paper, vinyl, rubber, cardboard and plastic with no problems. It seems to have more then adequate torque and can be used for very precise cuts if your careful. The grip is comfortable and the weight is not burdensome over long periods of use. The battery life is excellent. For light cutting, this is the tool. I highly recommend this cutter!

Opening those nasty hard plastic wrappings. Tried it on a paper that was impregnated with a tar substance. Do not do that. A miserable time cleaning the blade which we could not remove for easy cleaning. Otherwise, a terrific little tool.

Comments about Skil Skil Factory-Reconditioned 3.6V Lithium-Ion Power-Cutter:

I purchased this to open plastic packaged products for which it works very well, and to cut materials for hobby projects. The only problem I have it that most of the time I can't find the tool because my wife has taken it! She uses it all the time to cut fabric for her sewing projects. I'm thinking about a second one so that we can each have one.

Comments about Skil Skil Factory-Reconditioned 3.6V Lithium-Ion Power-Cutter:

This is a great tool to have around the house. I have struggled for years with opening the things I buy that are wrapped in the heavy plastic protection. In fact there have been times I would not buy something because the hassle of getting it out of the package is more than I can cope with. This cutter is excellent. I keep it in the kitchen for so it is handy.

I suffer from arthritis so it is particularily helpful to me.

I gave each of my sisters and my best friend one of these cutters for Christmas this year. Now they can enjoy the same freedom as I do.
