This is my second Skill Recon sander. The motor armature went bad on the first after nine months usage, but the sander was so good, I purchased another to try again.

I haven't had it long enough to give a fair review. It is on the heavy side but I am a beginner so maybe it is me. You really have to be careful not to sand to hard .

I bought this to make smoothing out edge-glued panels I make much quicker, but this thing really disappointed me. After two other purchases from them, I was really optimistic and like reconditioned items and the savings.
But this one kept cutting into the board at the edge of the belt no matter how much I tried to keep moving. I tried up and down movement with the grain like your suppose to do, then tried diagonal, and even bought finer grit belts and it still cut into the boards. It seemed the front roller was a bit low in relation to the main foot surface and possibly the culprit.
I also realized that a variable speed sander would be much more useful and since this one had to go back, I just decided to wait and buy a belt sander later since the variable speed ones cost quite a bit more.
The belts did track straight, that much I can say, but not being able to use it without it cutting into the board regardless of technique used made it a bad buy for me and one I wouldn't repeat on this product.

I am a avid wood crafter. I work in my shop at least
four to six days every week for normaly 4-6 hours per day. This belt sander is one of the best and affordable portable sanders I have ever had in my hands. This thing works great and perfect every time. I don't have any complaints about it at all. I highly reccommend this tool for anyone from casual
to full time use. Absolutely love it!!
