Great Jig Saw - 1 minor request
I bought this saw to use in a college theater shop. I love it. I can cut 3/4 play or 1/4 luan. Actually, I can hold the luan on it's side and cut it in the air. A great addition to our shop. One small detail. I really, really wish it had a light so I could easily see where the blade touches the wood.

A great saw
Took the saw out of the box to try it out on a couple of pallets I had.Cut through the 1" top
boards and 2x4 runners like butter.I have been happy with my past reconditioned tools but Bosch has $25 off a $100+ new tool thats hard to beat.
This tool was smooth and the cut line was clear of dust. Can't wait for my next project!!

a good jigsaw
Bosch delivers. I was nervous to purchase this jigsaw, as I fell in love with an old 6.5 amp model that hadn't changed in years, but was phased out by this model. This new version with padded handle, 7 amp power, variable speed dial (as opposed to old vs trigger) is nicer than I expected. It has a good cast base, and generous anti-splinter platform. Chip blower works OK, and my only gripe is the same gripe I have with 95% of all jigsaws- the bevel gauge (which is slightly indexed) is a little bit off. It requires some monitoring to ensure all cuts are square. Otherwise, it is quiet, powerful, and smooth- a very nice tool to use. The new blade change system is a dramatic improvement over it's competitors. It's a keeper for me. I've used it almost daily for at least 3 weeks now. My only wish is that there were still good options for saws with the variable speed trigger. They make a blade for every application, but I miss the control of the vs trigger. The vs dial mechanism is great if you work with plywood, mdf, plastics, or other materials that require a fixed speed with a specific blade. As most of my work is in hardwood, I like the modulation that a vs trigger offered. This saw still works fine, regardless.

Body Slammed
We were rushing to get in from a thunderstorm. The Bosch JS470E got yanked off the back of the pickup truck by it's power cord and landed on the blacktop. No damage, no scratches, no sign of taking a hit. It still runs like a champ. Impressive.

Powerful Saw
I bought this saw to use on an outdoor garden bridge project involving 2" x 12" pressure treated lumber. I had to cut an arc in two pieces that served as the foundation. The saw went right through the wood with no problems at all.

Versatile Tough Guy
I bought this jigsaw about a year ago and I am very satisfied with this tool. It is easy to handle and its robustness gives it a very good stability. I cut several types of material of different thicknesses and I always arrive at the desired result. Some prefer smaller jigsaws to have greater flexibility of movement and create complex shapes, but I find that this model provides a good balance between robustness and flexibility for a wide variety of jobs.

Never seen a jig saw cut so well
I own the generation before the model pictured. I've had it for three years. This saw pinch hits for the band saw I don't own. I have asked it to make extended cuts (> than an hours worth at a time) through 2 inches of solid maple, walnut, and dense exotic wood. It performs like a champ, never bogging down or overheating. I've had the best performance (smoothness of cut and ease through the material) using the Bosch blades.

Great saw
This is a sturdy jobsite saw that is also precise enough for the shop. Only complaint is the trigger switch sometimes has a mind of its own.

Which jigsaw has a light?
Don K on Nov 24, 2016
The old 1590evs has an excellent blade guide system that grips the blade in 2 places along it's length that greatly minimized the "flex" in the blade along a curved cut--especially in 2x material! Does this model retain that same system? If not, which models do? Thank you.
