Very easy on the hands
This sander is the only one I have ever used that didn't make my hands numb. The vibration you feel is minimal. The micro dust catcher works well, but for best results hooking it to a small vac hose is great. The paper change is super quick and easy. On/off switch is easy to find and operate.

Great Sander

Sander is well made and light weight
Sander works very well and meets requirements and expectations. Light weight is especially good for us over 60 folks doing exterior house prep work. (my house)

*** Excellent Sander***
I have been a professional carpenter/ woodworker for 40+ years so I have had my share of tools. This sander runs so smooth and produces an excellent finish. The best I have experienced of any of the random orbit sanders I have used/owned. I would highly recommend this product.

many pros, only 1 con
the sander is powerful. it doesn't stall when you lean in on it, in a flat manner. fast and effective, it will get done what you need to get done. filter system works great so long as you keep up with it, as far as emptying it. my only con is that it will stall when taken up on edge, even slightly. many times i have to do this to achieve my sanding goals. i don't know if this is a 'workpiece safety feature', since going up on edge is usually a no-no for the inexperienced, but i am experienced and have used other brand sanders that just keep going in any situation. otherwise, a great buy.

Great performance - even the dust collection
Quiet, easy to hold and great dust collection. This sander works noticeably better than the other brands that I've used in the past. Very, very happy with my purchase.

This sander has worked very well in the short time that I have owned it. I was rebuilding some outdoor benches and it was used to sand the wood slats before installing and staining them. It worked perfectly.

First of all, I really need to know is the Bosch is as good as they say it is and why isn't their warranty as good as the Ridgid products? Please answer this question for me, as this would be for my wife and I don't want a lot of grief from her over this sander.
Thanks You much,

BEST ANSWER: Short answer, yes. To elaborate, I own Rigid, Milwaukee, Makita, and Bosch sanders of this type (5" RA). I hate the Makita (never been able to keep the disks from flying off), don't care much for the Milwaukee (powerful, but very hard to control), really like the Rigid, and love the Bosch. I'll probably purchase the Dewalt in the next 6 months so that I can be sure that have the best 5" RA sander out there. I would rate the Bosch a little higher than the Rigid, but not by much. The Rigid seems to be a bit more powerful and agressive. It's relatively easy to control. The Bosch, while not as agressive, is the easiest of all these RA sanders to use. There's very little vibration to deal with, unlike the Makita and Milwaukee sanders. Although I feel the Bosch edges out the Rigid, its not by much. If I had to choose, I would go with whom ever has the better deal at the time.
How many holes does it have for the sanding disks? Do you have to buy Bosch sanding disks?
Pedro on Apr 15, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This Bosch sander requires standard 5" 8-hole hook & loop disks, not PSA disks. These are the only requirements for properly fitting sanding disks, so find the best disk at the best price with these specs.
